Kumarakom

Kumarakom- a day trip to remember to the backwaters of Kottayam . Start the day of with a trip to the Kumarakom bird sanctuary.  Immerse yourself in the beauty of Kerala with the interesting flora and varieties and colors of birds. Follow it up with a trip to St Marys Church which was built in 1579. It is a blend of Kerala and Portuguese styles. Bay Island Driftwood museum comes next which offers a unique collection of driftwood articles. Then to be taken on a houseboat through the Kumarakom back waters to enjoy the scenic views and provided with a world class south Indian meal which includes seafood. The houseboat provides air-conditioned rooms with attached toilets, dining hall, kitchen and a balcony. Guests will be taken back to the Teak Grove after a scrumptious evening tea with snacks on board the boat. An overnight stay can be arranged on request.

Kottayam Town

Kottayam Town Day trip-Visit to 500 year old Cheriapalli Syrian Orthodox Church with exclusive murals in natural vegetable dye.
To  ancient Valiyapalli Knanaya Church noted for its stone Persian Cross with Pahlavi inscriptions dating back to 78 AD.
To 1300 year old JUMA Masjid, a mosque built by Arab traders on the banks of river Meenachil where country boats still ply. Shopping at gold shops and silk, cotton textile shops and Indian Curio shops.

Thekkady

Thekkady– A boat trip through the Periyar Lake, offers you a chance to see the wild life on the shores of the resrvoir. Elephants, wild boar and sambar deer are common sights. An elephant ride through the spice garden can be arranged.

Perthenaruvi  and Konni

Perthenaruvi waterfalls and Konni Elephant Sanctuary–  Perunthenaruvi waterfalls is only 25 kilometres away from Teak Grove. It is a fine place to spend time with family in a very serene atmosphere. It is known for their wide area rather than the height. It is located on the Western ghats of the sahyadri range.

Konni has a major elephant training center, located 11 km from Pathanamthitta. The prime attraction here are the huge cages of wood built to house elephants.The trainers here train the baby elephants which get separated from their herd, or are found wounded or roaming in the forest. Experienced trainers using their systematic training methods, tame the baby elephants. Visitors can get a close look at these elephants and can observe and understand a lot about their behavior, especially that of baby elephants, which are often endearingly mischievous.
